Monster Jam

Yay, we made it to One-Page Week!!!!  I can't believe we have completed all 4 sketches already.  Where does the time go?!?!  Today my layout "Monster Jam" is featured over at Sketch Support and I wanted to share it with you here.

"Monster Jam" by Christina Hoffman
Supply list - Cardstock: Bazzill (white) and Archiver's (purple); Patterned Cardstock: We R Memory Keepers (Funfetti); Alphabets: Doodlebug Designs (monster) and American Crafts (jam); Paint: Making Memories (for tires and wheels); Ink: Colorbox (charcoal) and Staz-On (timber brown); Adhesive: Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L; Chipboard (for wheels): unknown; Sketch: Allison Davis, Sketch Support and Scrapbook Generation

Layout Details:

Patterned Papers: I knew when I found the pictures for this project that I did not want to use some busy patterned papers that could possibly take away from the pictures. So, I opted for bright/bold papers with simple little polka dots. All papers were chalked with Colorbox Chalk Ink in charcoal.

Pictures: I kept all of my pictures the size that was suggested on the sketch. All pictures were inked with Staz-On in timber brown.

Title and Journaling: I wanted my title to stand out but I didn’t want it to be too overwhelming so I opted to use a smaller font for the longest word, “Monster” and a larger font for the shortest word, “Jam”.

I also used one of the stars for my journaling block since I knew I wasn’t going to write much about this page. I wanted the tickets to stand out more than the journaling. The tickets and stars were chalked with Colorbox Chalk Ink in charcoal.

Embellishments: I used my Cricut to make the monster truck. The actual truck already had tires but I cut them off and recreated a more rugged look.

Since the chipboard was already thick I went ahead and applied pop dots behind the truck body to give it a 3-D look. I cut the banner and the stars out from opposite sides of the polka dot papers. All embellishments were chalked with Colorbox Chalk Ink in charcoal and pop doted.

Happy Sunday~!!!

Yesterday I spent the day with over 280 fellow scrappers at Scrap-A-Palooza which is put on by a local radio station and also my friends over at Scrapbook Generation.

Today, I am spending the day relaxing in my pj's, watching a little t.v. and taking a nap or two.  Okay, truth be told I've napped more than anything.   But after scrapbooking for 12 hours, eating all day long and having the best time with girlfriends.  It is totally understandable why I'm exhausted, right?

I also had the opportunity to meet up with fellow Sketch Support design team members:  Amy Roller, Christy Arthur and Katrina Hunt and of course our wonderful team leader, Allison Davis.  Without her I would never have had the opportunities I have been given.

And last but not least I leave you with my project from last week over at Sketch Support

Golfing with the Dino's

Here is my layout that is featured today on Sketch Support.  I would like to apologize ahead of time for it looking slanted.  It really isn't, but for some reason when I cropped the picture down it wouldn't straighten for me.

Well today is part 4 of card week over at Sketch Support and we are almost to the end of January's sketch week for cards.  I'm very excited that another one of my cards was featured on the blog today.   This is the same sketch that I used for the cupcake card in my prior post.  I just took this to another level.

Here is what I created:

Thank You by Christina HoffmanSupply list - Patterned paper: BasicGrey; Flowers and stems: BasicGrey; Ink: Colorbox Chalk Ink (chestnut roan); Adhesive: Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L; Floss: DMC; Sketch: Allison Davis, Sketch Support and Scrapbook Generation

Variation #1 – I cut my card down from 8 x 7 ½ to 8 x 7.

Variation #2 – Instead of a solid background I used two coordinating patterned papers.

Variation #3 – I also added a 1 inch strip to the bottom of the card along with a journaling tag. I opted to hand write my message.

Variation #4 - I used flowers and stems in place of the large circles.

Variation #5 - I also chalked and hand stitched around a few of the flowers and stacked smaller flowers on the larger ones with pop dots to give it more depth.

Don't forget that there is an awesome drawing for some Basic Grey products going on over at Sketch Support. So hurry up and get signed up!! And Good Luck!!!!

Sketch Support (Card Week)

This week is the premiere of Sketch Support and we are starting things off with a card sketch. Today one of my cards is featured along with one from fellow Creative Team Members Katrina Hunt and Melissa Elsner

As most of you know, I'm not a card person so this was a bit of a challenge for me.  I honestly made several cards before narrowing it down to just two to submit.  Here is the first card I came up with.

Supply list - Patterned cardstock: KI Memories; Jewels: The Paper Studio; Ink: Colorbox Fluid Chalk Ink (Chestnut Roan); Adhesive: Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L; Floss: DMC

Variation #1 - I used four smaller circles on my card instead of the three larger circles on the sketch.

Variation #2 - Since I had little Valentine messages on each circle I didn't add the message as suggested on the sketch.

Variation #3 - I used a mix of jewels and hearts for the smaller circles on the sketch. I also added some detail to the card with hand-stitching around two of the circles.

Variation #4 - Instead of a solid background I used two coordinating patterned papers.
