CHERISH THESE MOMENTS

I'm sorry I've been missing in action lately.  We've been busy with Landon's tball and of course my camera had to die after only 2 1/2 years.  Thankfully, my husband let me get a new one in a timely matter and as a special treat he let me upgrade to the camera of my dreams.  Now that I'm back in action I will share with you one of my layouts based off of this sketch from Sketch Support.

****The layout below was created using products that I received from Fancy Pants Designs after they featured one of my layouts on their blog.

I honestly would never have purchased this paper line because of the girlie colors, but once I came across this picture I knew the paper and the picture were going to look great together.

****The picture is of my husband and son sleeping on the couch at my sister's baby shower.  Obviously, they were either bored out of their minds or just really tired.  LOL.

Here is my take on the above sketch.

Fancy Pants Designs-Pocket Chick Pick

One of my layouts was chosen by Allison Landy, design team member with Fancy Pants Designs to be spotlighted on their blog as their Pocket Chick Pick for Friday, June 10th, 2011.  What a wonderful opportunity it was!

Here is the full article.

Or you can follow this link to view it directly from their blog.  Pocket Chick Pick-Christina Hoffman (June 10, 2011)

The Pocket Chick Pick is one of my favorite assignments we do here on the Fancy Pants blog! I love searching for inspiration among other people's work, and this month I was lucky enough to come across Christina Hoffman's fun 2 page spread using the To the Moon line.

Up To No Good by Christina Hoffman

I don't typically scrap 2 pagers myself, but I was intrigued by how Christina had combined a shaped pattern paper with a different pattern layered underneath it. I decided to see if I could create a similar look on a single, 8.5x11 page. Using the BRAND NEW Baby Mine line (which by the way also inspired the title of my layout) die cut paper and patterns, here's what I came up with.

I also loved the way Christina clustered the die cut embellishments in the corners. So, I grabbed some of the new Baby Mine line of printed filter paper embellishments and added them as an element off the side of the layout.

In the end, I love how the layouts have similar features, but that they each maintain their own character. Thank you Christina for sharing your work with us!

First of all I would like to thank everyone for stopping by and leaving such wonderful comments on my layout and for hopping along throughout the whole blog hop.   I hope you had a great time and received lots of inspiration from my fellow creative team members.  They're all very talented!

Now I would like to share with you the original layout that I created for the blog hop but decided at the last minute it didn't have that "wow" look that I was going for.

Your layout is simply adorable! I love the robots!!! I so need this paper!!
I love to scrap to keep our family memories alive. Some of the day to day things get forgotten unless I scrap them and then they can be brought to mind whenever looking at my albums.

The first thing I'm going to share with you is the sketch that Allison asked each of to create a project out of.  Well most of you know that I am a two-page girl all the way so that is what I will be sharing with you on my page today.

Here is the sketch:

Love it!  How about you?

And here is my take on it.......

Variation #1: I flipped the sketch.
Variation #2: I moved my title to the bottom of the left side of the page.
Variation #3: I added embellishments in place of the original place of the title.
Variation #4: I moved my journaling over just a little bit so I could add some embellishments.

Here's a closer look at the title and gears that I traced, cut out, then hand stitched.

Here is another look at the gears and the robot.

Now it's give away time.  Who doesn't love a giveaway??  There are two requirements for you to be eligible to win your choice of any volume sketch book.  First, I will need you to follow my blog and second, you will need to answer the following question.
Why do you Scrapbook?

The drawing for the sketch book and the grand prize through Sketch Support ends Monday, May 9th at 12:00 a.m.

If you have been following the blog hop and leaving comments on each blog like the directions stated on Sketch Support then you're on your way to winning the grand prize giveway.

"So Happy To Have You" Canvas Art

Happy (rainy) Sunday everyone!  Today I am going to share with you a layout that I made using a piece of artist canvas.  This was my first time creating a layout with canvas and not a piece of cardstock as my background.  I must say, it was a lot of fun!  I also like that I get to enjoy seeing it on display in my house rather than just having it stored away in an album.  Who knows I might just have to create a few more pieces of work for my house.

Here is a close up of one of the flowers I created by using ribbon and twisting it around in a circle to create the look of a flower.

Here is another close up of the ribbon flowers I created as well as the hand stitched I did on the canvas.

And last but not least, here is a picture of the completed project on display on a shelf on my living room wall.

Supplies - Artist Canvas: purchased at Hobby Lobby; Patterned paper: My Mind's Eye; Spray stain: Design Master Home Decor Stain in Pecan; Title: My Mind's Eye; Flowers: Created with My Mind's Eye tulle, lace, and ribbon; Brads: Making Memories; Embroidery floss: DMC; Tools: Martha Stewart Butterfly Punch and Fiskar's Scallop Punch; Sketch: Allison Davis, Sketch Support and Scrapbook Generation

Sketches for All Ages

This week over at Sketch Support, we had a special feature called "Sketches for All Ages" with some easy steps on how to scrapbook with your kids.  I was on vacation with my family and forgot to send my layout in.  Oops!

So, today I am going to share with you the layout that my son, Landon, age 4, has put together.  I went ahead and cut all of the strips and the background piece of paper out for him and with a little direction (I used a pencil to mark where the paper should be placed) this is what he came up with.  He did a great job!!!

What do you like about scrapbooking?
Helping put the stickers on (adhesive)

How much does your Mom scrapbook?
Too much!

What is your favorite color?
Red

What is your favorite scrapbooking supply?
The cutter (trimmer)

What is your favorite thing about this sketch?
It showed me where to put my stickers

If you could have your mom make a page about anything what would it be?
All of my Monster Trucks

What is your best tip for other scrapbookers?
It's a secret! Only mommy can know.

This was the first time I had ever let Landon actually scrapbook a page with pictures and a sketch.  Usually, I just give him some paper and cut a few things out with my Cricut and let him create his own project.

Below are a few pictures of him creating his layout.

This picture (below) cracks me up because Landon was repositioning the strip because it wasn't straight.  I think maybe he has watched me scrapbook one too many times.
